Roompact is Hiring Part-Time Bloggers for 2025… [CLOSED]

We’re hiring! If you or someone you know is an amazing writer with a housing and residence life background, take a look at our new Freelance Content Contributor position. We’re hiring for eight of these positions (four focused on developing content for grads/professionals and four focused on student staff audiences). Applications close on January 31, 2025. “Interviews” will be rolling through February with an expected start date of March. See below for the position description.

To apply, fill out the quick Google Form at the link below. In order to assess your writing, we ask that you write a sample blog post. Depending on which team you want to apply for, we are asking different prompts. If you want to be considered for both, please write both (and include both posts in your form submission).

If applying to write for professional/grad audiences… respond to the prompt… “What is one practice residence life departments need to let go of?”

If applying to write for student staff audiences… review RA360.org and fill one gap you believe it has in the offerings.

Since we receive so many great sample posts, we’d hate to have that effort and work go to waste. If you’d like (totally optional and does not impact your candidacy in any way) you can opt in to having your sample blog post(s) potentially published (even if you’re not ultimately hired). After reviewing your post, if we decide to publish it, you will receive a $50 gift card to Goldbelly. Additionally, you will also receive a personalized caricature from a commissioned artist which we’ll use in the posting and provide to you to use however you wish. (Roompact reserves the right to reject any blog post submissions for publication, and therefore the gift card and caricature, for any reason.)*

*A NOTE ABOUT AI: AI tools like ChatGPT can be a great brainstorming tool, but they produce overly-generic and impersonal blog posts. (Trust us, we can tell!) That’s not what we’re looking for. If it was, we wouldn’t be hiring bloggers. 🙂 Use your professional knowledge and personal experience to inform and enlighten your post!

Your post should be at least one page, single-spaced, in 10-12 point font with standard 1 inch margins.

Freelance Content Contributor

Thank you for your interest in Roompact! We’re growing and looking to expand our team. Specifically, we need help with developing more content for our blog. Our goal is to constantly be producing content that can aid residence life and housing professionals in their work. We are looking for diverse perspectives and content matter experts to provide new voices to Roompact.

We’re looking for eight folks who can make at least a 1-year commitment (13 months) to this position.  These eight individuals will be divided into two teams of four (one team focused on writing for graduate student and professional staff audiences, and one team focused on writing for student staff audiences). It will run from March 2025 through (including) March 2026. It will require approximately 3-4 hours a month, brainstorming, writing, and editing new material for the Roompact blog. While not a full time role, it may be a great opportunity to engage in a passion of yours and make some extra money while doing it. We’ve calculated a “salary” of $100 per month/blog post, for a total of $1,300 across the 13 months. It would not come with additional benefits. This position will likely not lead to a full time position, but could give the right person who’s interested in working “higher education adjacent” a feeling of what that may be like.
