Although we’re certified, we’re never done! We want to be better. We will be sharing some of our experiences, thoughts, and ideas right here on our blog. By practicing transparency ourselves, we hope you will hold us accountable. We also hope that by sharing our own actions and experiences, it will also give you ideas on how you can make your own departmental practices more socially responsible. Learn more about B-Corps.
Roompact has always tried to develop relationships with our partner campuses in ways that are different from the rest of the industry. Although we’re a for-profit company, in many ways we try to emulate our campuses with a not-for-profit attitude. This means “doing the right thing” even when it might not be in our best financial interests.
To understand this philosophy and approach, it’s important to understand something about Roompact-the-company and our philosophy. Unlike some software companies, we aim to grow a family-owned business that takes care of its employees and campuses. We’re not looking to grow fast and sell to some larger company. We’re not seeking profit for profit sake. We seek profit to provide our employees with great compensation and benefits, to give back to the field of residence life through donations, contributing to and advancing knowledge,
All-In-One Price Transparency
Since the beginning of Roomapct, we have always had an “all-in-one” cost. That means you get all of the features of Roompact from the start. Whereas some companies may modularize their software, hoping you will get hooked and pay for expensive add-ons, we’ve avoided this model. This goes hand in had with…
No “Extra Costs”
“No extra costs” can sometimes be a shocker for some of the campuses we work with. There have been numerous times that Roompact has provided a free on campus training, or offered to help advertise for open campus positions and our campus partner has asked, “What’s the extra cost?” The answer has always been “nothing.” It says something about our industry when any “extra” a company may provide immediately makes a professional think an extra cost is involved.
We want to set you up for success. This is one of the reasons why on campus training is included for all new Roompact schools. Further down the line, should you require additional training, we offer a number of free virtual options as well. If you would benefit more from an on-campus visit, we’ll also work with you to make it happen. We do have limits, but that’s more because of finite staff time (we wish we could visit you every year!).
Working With You – A True Partnership
We realize this is a phrase or sentiment that a lot of companies also profess, but we mean this to our core. When you join with Roomapct, we look towards the long term of our relationship, not just the short term. A great example of this was our approach to contract renewals during the COVID pandemic. During this time we knew a lot of our campus partners were hurting–and in particular, budgets are hurting. We decided to freeze any price increases on our software. Additionally, in a number of cases we provided short term discounts to schools who were really hurting. We have this flexibility and we use it. Over the long term of our relationship, a temporary price reduction is a minor concern.
