What is something you are proud of?

I’m incredibly proud of being accepted into my doctoral program immediately after completing my master’s degree in higher education. It’s been a rewarding journey to continue my studies in a field I’m so passionate about, and I’m excited to contribute to the ongoing dialogue surrounding higher education. This achievement is not just an academic milestone for me, but a reminder of the persistence, dedication, and support from mentors and peers that helped me get here. It also reflects my commitment to continue learning and growing in the field of higher education, with the goal of one day making a meaningful impact on students and institutions alike.

What made you decide to apply for an ACUHO-I Internship?

I applied for an ACUHO-I internship because I wanted to push myself outside my comfort zone and explore new professional environments. Having spent my academic career in the same institution, I felt the need to broaden my horizons, gain fresh insights, and build a diverse skill set. This internship offers the perfect opportunity to do that by working alongside professionals with different backgrounds and perspectives, while also being immersed in hands-on experiences. I’m excited to learn about the innovative practices being implemented in residential life across the country, network with other passionate higher education professionals, and develop my leadership abilities. The opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects and collaborate with people who share my enthusiasm for higher education is a key motivator for me.

What philosophy or values inform your work?

At the heart of my work, I firmly believe in the power of inclusivity and community-building. I strive to create environments where individuals feel respected, valued, and empowered to express their unique perspectives. To me, leadership is about fostering an environment where people feel supported in their personal and professional growth. I value adaptability, as I believe being open to new ideas, approaches, and feedback is essential for progress. Additionally, I am committed to lifelong learning—not only for myself but for the people I work with. I aim to be a resource for others, offering guidance when needed, and creating opportunities for collaborative growth. Above all, I prioritize empathy, recognizing that every person brings their own experiences and challenges to the table, and that a compassionate, supportive approach can make a world of difference.

What do you do for fun? Any hobbies?

I’ve been playing the French Horn for 14 years now, and it’s such a core part of who I am. Being part of my university’s marching band has allowed me to combine my love for music with school spirit—there’s truly nothing like performing live! When I’m not immersed in music, I’m all about sports. I enjoy watching live games, especially women’s basketball, baseball, and hockey. The thrill of being in the stands, cheering for the team, and getting wrapped up in the excitement of the game is something I really enjoy.

When I need some downtime, you’ll probably find me with a book in hand. I’m a sucker for romantic comedies—there’s something about a good, feel-good rom-com that keeps me coming back for more. I also love to travel! Hiking is one of my favorite ways to explore new places, and I’m always looking for destinations that offer beautiful trails.
